: :: - A. Americans are not brainwashed. B. citizen initiated referenda is citizens voting on specific issues. For example, during an election in say Califonia they'll also put policy on the budget. Like "do you support a 5% property tax increase to build more schools" These are usually binding.
: A)yes, the majority is brainwashed
: B)no we dont have such thing :)
Oh boy, brainwashing issue. I don't necessarily thing the American public is "brainwashed," they're just... misinformed, and no one questions the "fuzzy math" the government gives us anymore.
+10 points for Gore-ism! Yay for me!
It's kinda sad because I think everyone is suffering from a similar problem. Government dishonesty and all. And not the typical dishonesty, like "No, I didn't sleep with anyone" or "no I'm not taking money from bad sources" or anything. I mean like taking things things, especially numbers, out of context. Like during the Vietnam War, the government kept saying things like "Sadly, 10 Americans died today, but on the other hand 6 hojillion VC died!" that kind of stuff.
I don't understand why it's so hard for them to be honest. It's one of the government's jobs to keep us informed about things we really should know. Can't really depend on the media in America. Too many biased new sources. No one's interested in facts and figures anymore, it's just opinion.
I'm not allowed to use nothing but opinions when I write an argument in a term paper, I don't think the media should be allowed to either.
