why's america soooo rich ??

Hi there,

I was pretty shocked to read the other day an article listing the spread of wealth in the world, and stating that out of the 497 billionnaires in the world america had a staggerring 216 or them...... all this yet america only represents 5% of the worlds population.

Why is this ? is it;
a) american foreign policy/exploitation of other countries that bleeds them dry and makes america richer (as the extremists would have me believe).
b) america cashed in (financially & influence wise) after WW2 & made the world currency Dollar & basically has run the show since seeing as they were the only ones who didnt go bankrupt. (as my dad would have me believe).
